Dance Expressions
Policies 2009-2010
- Tuition is not based on a single class or by the month. It is a YEARLY fee covering the academic school year, August through May.
- All holidays and vacations have been accounted for, ensuring that each class receives a minimum of 35 lessons between August and May. All accounts may be charged ½ months tuition for June, depending on the exact dates of the annual performance. First months tuition is due at registration and can be pro-rated.
- Payment plans for tuition, payable to DANCE EXPRESSIONS are as follows:
- MONTHLY payments are due the 1st of each month--August through May. First months tuition is due at time of registration.
- QUARTERLY payments are due as follows: The 1st quarter is due at time of registration, 2nd quarter on December 1st, 3rd quarter on March 1st.
- You will receive a 5% discount on quarterly payments.
- Quarterly payments made after the 10th of the month will lose their discount.
- YEARLY payment is due at time of registration. You will receive a 7% discount on your annual payment.
- NEW!! Tuition payments made by the 5th of the month will receive $5 off for that month. All tuition paid after the 5th will be at the regular tuition rate. Please remember all tuition is due no later than the 10th of the month. A late fee of $20 will be assessed to any account that is 30 days past due, regardless of the date on the check or postmark on the envelope. Tuition is non-refundable.
- There is a $25.00 charge for any returned check. (If you previously had a returned check with DE, you may only pay with money orders or cash).
- No refunds will be made for students who do not complete classes. Make-up lessons should be taken within 30 days of the missed class. No make-up lessons during Parent Watch Week!
- A child is enrolled when tuition is paid, enrollment form is completed and policies are signed by a parent or guardian.
- Regular season classes run from August thru May, and we encourage all students to make a commitment and follow through with their study for the entire dance year. However, should withdrawal from a class become necessary, you must notify the office in writing so we may keep our staff informed. Until such notification, the space will be held for the student and charges invoiced to the account.
- All students will have a non-refundable $20.00 annual registration fee. First months tuition is due at the time of registration.
- A minimum of 5 students in a class is required. If the minimum is not met and the studio cancels a class, students will be rescheduled.
- Dance Expressions reserves the right to cancel a class due to teacher illness. If this happens, we will arrange a make-up time.
- Students with 60 days outstanding account balance will not be permitted to class until the account is brought current.
- Parent watch week is scheduled for November 16-21. A closed classroom will be in effect for all remaining days of the year.
- Dance Expressions cannot assume responsibility for loss of personal property. Dance bags and purses are permitted in the studio during class.
- Parents are responsible for their children before class begins and after class dismissal times. Please drop off and pick up your child no more than 10 minutes before and after their scheduled class time.
- We follow Paola school district closings for inclement weather. If weather is questionable, please call the studio. Make-up classes are not given due to cancellation by inclement weather. Annual tuition is based on 35 lessons between August and May; however 37 lessons are scheduled, leaving 2 lessons per year for cancellations of this nature.
- We do not close for Monday holidays, with the exception of Labor Day and Memorial Day! (Please see the calendar for the studio vacation schedule.)
- No student will be allowed to perform in the Spring Performance if their account is delinquent.
- All students will be enrolled in the Annual Performance for 2010, unless notified at time of registration. Please be sure to mark your registration form.
- There will be a non-refundable annual Performance Fee of $30.00 per child due April 1, 2010.
- NEW!! Costume fees will be divided into 3 payments. The first payment is due on September 1st, the second payment is due on October 1st, and the third payment is due on November 1st. Costume fees include your child class costume(s) and one pair of tights. If you need a back-up pair of tights or class jewelry, you will need purchase them in February. An order form will be sent out in January reminding you to do so. If your class has special jewelry or props, you will be invoiced in January. All costumes are non-refundable.
- Following is the price for each class costume: (includes tights, taxes not included.)
- Kinderdance I/II/III (1 costume) - $65
- Intro to Youth I (1 costume) - $65
- Beginning Youth I thru Youth III (2 costumes) – $65 each
- Junior I/II & Senior I (3 costumes) - $70 each
- Pointe (1 costume) - $70
- Kidz Hip Hop thru Hip Hop III (1 costume) - $60
- Hip Hop IV/V (1 costume) - $70
- Tumbling (1 costume) - $60
- Please write a separate check when paying for tuition, costume payments and performance fees.
- Students are required to wear proper dance attire to all dance classes.
- Leotards, tights, bootie shorts. No baggy shirt or boxer shorts.
- Hair pulled securely away from face.
- Proper dance shoes.

Hold Harmless Agreement
In consideration of the benefits derived from Dance Expressions studio, I (we), my heirs and executors do agree to indemnify and hold harmless, release and discharge Dance Expressions, it’s agents, servants, or employees from any and all claims for personal injuries or property damage occurring to or sustained by my (our) child while participating in the said dance or tumbling activity, or while in the act of being transported to and from any activity related to dance or tumbling and including any and all consequential damage claims which I (we) may be entitled to recover from said injury or property claim.
